This page explains what happens to your data when you visit synthesia.cc. At the moment the game is not sold or played on this site: it is coming to Steam. The sections marked (browser version) describe what applies if the game is offered for purchase and play in the browser, and to people we invite to test it. Last updated: 25 October 2026.
Who is responsible
TARDIGRADE Studio, [address, as in the Impressum], contact@synthesia.cc.
Visiting the site
Our host (Cloudflare, Inc. (USA; hosting, CDN and DNS)) processes your IP address and technical request data in server logs to deliver the pages and keep them secure. E-mails sent to contact@synthesia.cc are forwarded by Cloudflare's e-mail routing to our own mailbox. We use no analytics, no advertising and no third-party fonts or scripts. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Paying (browser version)
Payments are handled by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. (Ireland) on its own checkout page. Stripe receives your payment details and e-mail address and is responsible for them under its own privacy policy. We receive a confirmation that you paid, your e-mail address and your country. We keep this to prove the purchase and to meet tax and accounting duties (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR), for as long as the law requires, which is [7 years in Austria: please confirm].
If we have set up e-mail delivery, your e-mail address is also passed to our e-mail provider Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) only to send you your personal access link.
The access cookie (browser version)
After you pay, we set one cookie, sx, on your device. It proves that you bought the game so that the page /play can open. It is strictly necessary for what you asked for, so no consent banner is needed. It expires after about 13 months or when you delete it.
While you play (browser version)
The game runs in your browser. The music files you load are analysed on your device and are never uploaded to us. Settings and high scores are saved in your browser's local storage. In online co-op, a connection is made directly between the two players' browsers, so your IP address is visible to the other player. The game loads the open-source PeerJS library from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr or cdnjs), which sees your IP address when it is loaded. A signalling service run by PeerJS (peerjs.com) helps the two browsers find each other, and public relay servers (STUN/TURN) may be used to connect them; these services also see your IP address.

You can ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy of your data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to contact@synthesia.cc. You may also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, www.dsb.gv.at).
